When I went looking for my first startup job, I was a nineteen-year-old with no experience and no technical skills. All I told the founders I wanted to work for was that I was obsessed with business—and that I would work seven days a week, twelve hours a day, if that's what it took. They couldn't price that. They bet on it anyway, and the slope did the rest.

That résumé-blindness is the whole Mispriced thesis. My university friends competed for accounting, consulting, and banking seats—the legible paths. The best people are rarely on them.
